“Real Men”

”Well, aren’t we all?”
I faced the wall,
But slowly turned around.
Now recognized
(Twas in his eyes),
His sword still wasn’t down.

”Well we’re rich and
At fairyland
We’ll live a million days.
You naive boys
With moral toys
Will just get in our way.
We men can do
What we must. You
Can stay lost and go roam.
Get in our way
And you will pay.
The real men here are home.”

The ferry gasped
And flew out fast.

”Is that a- You’ve been there!”

”Stand down all hands!
I’m in command.
On her, don’t touch a hair.
You all agreed
To follow me
To sea and home again.”

”We are home now,
And anyhow
Now, I’m the ship’s captain!”

“You're lizard kind
Of twisted mind.
Not captain, crocodile!
Now drop your sword,
And stay aboard
Or walk off with your guile!”

“Ho listen men!
Will you get in?
Or let him block the isle?
His lifespan be
Eternity,
But what of rank and file?
Did you agree
To follow greed?
If not, then follow me.”

At last they swayed,
And my group made
Their get away- Not me.
