Which Way

Good day to you, terrans. I continue to record my adventures on your internet. Enjoy. -P

Relieved at last
The whole group laughed
I'd drawn no birds of prey.
I laughed along.
They sang their song.
I tried to slip away
And volunteered
Night watch. I feared
That none’d forget that day.
So, naturally,
They nick-named me
From it without delay.

Then mystery
Met clarity
Upon a cool sunrise.
I woke and they
(My host, the fae)
Hushed right up in surprise.

“I’m telling him.
Now, Penjammin-”
She turned to speak to me.

“No. Not for him.
Too much for him
With training to complete.
That’s stuff of war.
Haunt Weebow’s door.”

“But him they would defeat!
Besides all that,
They’ve just attacked
The other tribes, not yours.
So we. still. can.
Send the. right. man.
Call it a show of force!
Look, pirates raid
Your kindred's’ bay
And here you have a man
Whose former life
Pursued their like
And head of his own clan!”

“It’s not our way.
Peace goes away
When lines like that get crossed.
If he’s to go
It’s on his own.
His training will be lost.”
