Old friend

Posted on June 9June 23

Good day to you, terrans. I continue to record my adventures on your internet. Enjoy. -P

We talked for hours
On heightened powers
But not quite like you think.
It worked on me
Just like caffeine.
I didn’t sleep a wink.
He seemed much as
A friend lost as
Our ship began to sink.
I stayed up more
But at the shore
With fairy dust to drink.

The memory
Of mon ami.
It wouldn’t let me go.
From times we rode
As gypsy folk
To just some months ago.
I saw him wave
Before the wave
That took him overboard.
Wait. Here comes he!
From out the sea!
With chains along the shore?

Now stumbling,
He speaks to me
But I don’t understand.
He reaches out
For help, but “How?”
He makes to shake my hand.
“You’re late!”
“For what?”
“You’re job!”
“My what?”
“Wake up! and I'll tell you.”
With that, sand struck
My face.
“I'm up.”
My fairy brought me news…

Please

Though elderly,
He worked the peace.
He spoke with other tribes.
His disinterest
Caught my interest
And cut me down to size.
Returning to
My old lean-to
I received the goodbyes
Of all but their
Old man of peace
Who seemed kind otherwise.

My days with them
My nights with friends:
The voices from the sea.
Hunts with the crew,
My shares accrued.
(I had no family.)
So I would trade
A bunch, and they’d
Do all my processing.

I got my game,
Looks from the dame,
And props from her old man.
My crew was great.
We'd celebrate
The big kills with the clan.
On one such meet
I went to speak
My peace to that peace man.

He sat reclined.
He also kind
Of looked lost in the fire.
Eyes on the flame
But far away,
And where, I daren’t inquire.

“Hello to you.
I’m no more new,
But we have yet to meet.”

“I understand.
Does a great man
Have time for faeren tea?”

Shocked dumb and still
I got a chill,
My bones were locked in place.
How had this guy
Acquired this find?
They hide without a trace…

“I can’t refuse,
But am confused.
How came you by their teas?”

“I cultivate,
Negotiate,
The peace with enemies,
But also friends
Like fairy kins.
Was that a yes?”

“Oh, please!”

Fair Bow

Good day to you, terrans. Best wishes on your weekend. My adventures continue, and I continue to record them on your internet. Enjoy. -P

I caught her eye.
She backed inside.
Her hut to be unseen.
Her pa was large,
Though not in charge.
Militias he would lead.

She was “Fair Bow”.
Her pa “Small Bow”
(To cut him down to size.)
She bore the glow
Of wheat that grows
Beneath the Summer skies.

Her daddy, then,
Was champion
Big man among his kin.
I proved to be
A win, so he
Was eager to be friends.
(Talk of the tribes
Was of my rise-
With one exception.)

Initiation

A good day to you, terrans, and best wishes on your weekend. In between the crazinesses on my end, I continue to record my adventures and impose them upon your internet. Enjoy. -P

Sure I was mad,
But then they had
Events there well in hand.
With nothing to
Forgive the crew,
I went to meet their clan.
Turns out that they
All play the bait,
To prove the brave a man.

One walked in front.
He lead the hunt.
Called “Stomping Bird” was he.
And “Dancing Sprout”
Bopped all about.
Brothers, apparently.
(And each did say
The other’d take
Some time to grow on me.)

We did create,
Initiate,
A clan of one with me.
Twas not their home.
I had my own,
The new “Clan from the Sea.”
No more so strange,
We could exchange.
One gave her gaze to me…

The Test

Posted on May 12May 12

Hello Terrans. I continue to recount adventures in other worlds. See the rest of the series in a link above. Enjoy. -Pen

“You do it wrong.”
These months along
I now meet someone new,
And he comes up
To show me up
Well, him and others too.
Not fairy kind
But more like mine.
Two more approaching me,
The first said more.
“Seen you explore.
How fare you hunting beasts?”

“To hear or see
Ability,
Which one do you prefer?
Give me your best.
I’ll pass the test.
Of that rest ye assured.”

The fairy then
Did apprehend
The plot they had in mind.
She laughed at me,
Wished luck to me,
And left me in my bind.

They led me through
Their wood unto
A ruse below a cliff.
(They’d dug a pit
Right next to it.)
And then I caught a whiff.
They then told me
I’d be luring
The charging beast inside.
Dowsed in the pee
Of one in heat,
I stood and thought I’d die.
