Prompted Poetry

Hey terrans. I have a heads up. I've taken to doing the poetry prompts that are on twitter/X. And recently I've taken to doing more than just one group's prompts. So, this has me in a small pickle (cramped, I know). Previously, I linked to m'latests via a search of my handle with the relevant hashtag. Now, there are more hashtags, and I'm not sure how to make complex searches like that work on twitter. So I'm thinking of tagging them all with this:  to boot from now on.

But what is this so-called prompted poetry you say? Is it a thing? Well, of course it is. This is terra after all. Of course it would be a thing. Well, sometimes it's just the right poke I need to get out something that's meaningful (to me at least). Other times it's more of a game to play. Frankly, I also enjoy just putting pleasant stuff on my followers' feeds. Everyone's feed could use more of that, especially with the troubles currently in the “news” over there. Terrans are crazy.

So, yeah, I'm doing that prompted poetry thing. And it's usually not long mulled over. Each prompt is a single word, and it has a day before it expires. But, it did get me telling my backstory a in a serial kind of way. So, yeah, as a creative outlet (OR A GAME! 🙂 ), I recommend checking out such prompts. Do a search. Have a go. I'll drop a few results I made below. (Prompts are italicized.) -P

Sand clings to my face.
Wet clothes cling to everything.
But what is this place?
The island likes me I think.
This beach should buy me a drink.

Off cold canyon walls,
The wind echoes news, chants truths.
Hearing ears are warned.
Numbskulls still will get her news.
They've tuned it out. It's refused.

Snores roar off the walls;
This winter cave has a bear.
Both recover post-Fall:
Yogi just by laying there,
Cave tucked in the snow it wears.
